Have you seen our climate education and mangrove planting posters at the Transjakarta bus stops?
Over the past year, CarbonEthics and Transjakarta have collaborated as sustainability partners, developing environmental action plans related to mangrove ecosystem in the #BersihBerdayaBestari program. This initiative focuses on educating the public about blue carbon ecosystem restoration, raising awareness about climate change, and promoting the use of public transportation.
On August 22, CarbonEthics and Transjakarta officially extended their joint commitment to restore the climate balance through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration is supporting Transjakartatoward achieving a net zero emissions journey through the restoration of blue carbon ecosystems with mangrove planting by local coastal communities in Pulau Harapan.
The renewed MoU focuses on three main objectives to enhance environmental efforts. It promotes a Mangrove Planting Campaign that invites public donations to support the planting of mangroves, which are essential for reducing carbon dioxide emissions and maintaining coastal ecosystems. It also aims to improve public awareness of environmental sustainability and climate change through educational initiatives, including informative posters at Transjakarta bus stops that highlight the significance of mangroves in Blue Carbon ecosystems. Last, the Carbonethics and Transjakarta seeks to strengthen collaboration between organizations to achieve shared sustainability goals, enhancing collective impact on climate change mitigation.
Through the objective focus of the collaboration, CarbonEthics and Transjakarta certainly expect a broader impact in the future. Since one year of collaboration, CarbonEthics and Transjakarta have not only awareness about climate and sustainability through educational campaigns, but also create genuine impacts through real planting actions. Together with Jakarta citizens, CarbonEthics and Transjakarta have successfully planted over +30,744 mangroves on Harapan Island with estimated carbon sequestration up to 1.014.552 Kg COe.
This year, CarbonEthics and Transjakarta intend to implement more innovative and engaging educational strategies that resonate with the community. By leveraging social media, they aim to boost public participation in mangrove planting initiatives and environmental education.
Public can also take part in this sustainable initiative by planting mangrove trees alongside CarbonEthics and Transjakarta by visiting bit.ly/BersihBerdayaBestari or the QR code found at Transjakarta bus stops to facilitate easy access for community contributions to mangrove planting.
The renewed partnership between CarbonEthics and Transjakarta in climate change mitigation through blue carbon ecosystem restoration and education represents a commitment toward achieving a sustainable impact.
