FPCI Book Launch: 'Essential Climate Numbers for OUR Survival' - A step towards climate awareness

Innandya Kusumawardhani, Co-Founder and CEO of CarbonEthics, made significant contributions to the creation of the 2nd edition of “Essential Climate Numbers for OUR Survival”, a comprehensive book to understanding climate change and its impacts. Her section highlights the importance of climate literacy and the need for collective action to mitigate the impacts of climate change. It is said that the potential for carbon absorption by the blue carbon ecosystem contributes greatly to achieving the 2023 FOLU Net Sink target of reducing 140 million tCO2e.

This book launched on Wednesday, July 3 2024, by The Indonesian Foreign Policy Community (FPCI) Climate Unit. The event featured a series of speeches and presentations by distinguished guests, including H.E. David Fredericks (Secretary of the Australian Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water) and Dr. Iwan Syahril, Ph.D. (Director General of Early Childhood Education, Basic Education and Secondary Education).

With contributions from more than 30 experts from various fields, including ministers, government officials, diplomats, researchers, activists, business leaders, journalists and students, this book contains more than 120 facts and concise data regarding climate change, its impacts and solutions for Indonesia.

“Time is running out to limit the Earth’s temperature at 1.5° Celsius—the number that could irreversibly alter all life on earth. Therefore, all of society must collaborate for climate action. The book Essential Climate Numbers for OUR Survival is here to make people aware of the climate challenges that will be faced by Indonesia and all of humanity, which is right before our eyes.”

– An excerpt from the book introduction by Dino Patti Djalal, Founder and Chair of the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI).

The FPCI Climate Unit is to be commended for its efforts in increasing climate awareness and advocacy through various programs and initiatives. The unit's commitment to achieving its net-zero target is a significant step towards a sustainable future. This book launch event is proof of FPCI's dedication to climate education and its role in shaping Indonesia's vision towards a golden future in 2045.

The publication of "Essential Climate Numbers for OUR Survival" is an initiative for a more climate-conscious future. It is a call to action for all stakeholders to work together towards a sustainable world.

The book will be available for free distribution to schools across Indonesia and accessible online. It is expected to serve as a guide for the next generation, who will inherit a net-zero world.
