The Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (ISF) 2024 has become a strategic event that advocates for inclusive collaboration in achieving sustainable mangrove restoration. The forum aims to provide solutions to global challenges such as climate change, deforestation, and land conflicts.
CarbonEthics, in partnership with KADIN Indonesia, Earth Security, Earth Pledge, and Arunika Bumi Lestari, is sharing inclusive mangrove collaboration programs through one of its programs, the TERA program: Collaborative Action for Mangrove Restoration with a mini talk show agenda discussing "Discussions on the critical importance of mangrove restoration, the pivotal role of the TERA program, and the power of collaboration in driving this essential environmental movement".
This Mini Talk Show was held at Warung Nusantara Venue, Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta. Moderated by Olla Levina, Miss Planet Indonesia 2024, this dialogue features key experts and leaders including Bimo Soewadji (CEO of CarbonEthics), Chintya Dian Astuti (Deputy Head I of Permanent Committee for Planning and Evaluating Watershed, Protected Forest and Mangrove of KADIN Indonesia), Heru Prama Yuda (Senior Partnership Manager of Earth Security), Christoper Adiguna Ginting (Founder of Earth Pledge) and Erdonis Erdwan (Director of Arunika Bumi Lestari).
One of the highlighted solutions is the development of an ecosystem-based economic model. This approach not only protects the environment but also provides economic benefits for coastal communities. In mangrove restoration, this economic model has proven capable of enhancing community well-being through eco-tourism and sustainable product development.
Bimo Soewadji, CEO of CarbonEthics, emphasizes the importance of mangrove restoration in improving the lives of coastal communities. He recounts how coastal communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic faced economic difficulties, but with the mangrove restoration program, they were able to recover.
“During the COVID-19 pandemic, many coastal communities lost their income, but through the CarbonEthics program, they were able to recover. One farmer told me that the program helped them buy rice for their families,” said Bimo.
This initiative serves as evidence that mangrove restoration is not only beneficial for the environment but also plays a crucial role in enhancing the economic well-being of coastal communities. With collaboration between the government, private sector, NGOs, and society, the target for mangrove restoration across Indonesia can be achieved. ISF 2024 demonstrates that multi-stakeholder cooperation is the key to the success of sustainable mangrove restoration projects.
CarbonEthics is honored to be part of the ISF 2024 event, especially the TERA program. We hope to continue sharing about the blue carbon ecosystem and develop sustainable carbon projects. Collaborate with us to continue to improve climate action efforts!
